Announcing RC2FM Connector version 1.1.0 — the "MMS edition"
Nearly a year after its original debut date, Automation USA is proud to announce the release of version 1.1.0 of RC2FM Connector – our RingCentral integration for FileMaker. Architected to be FileMaker 16 ready while retaining backwards compatibility, this new version also includes several enhancements and a fantastic new feature.
Introducing Business MMS by RingCentral
A highlight of this release is the ability for FileMaker applications to send and receive multi-media messages to MMS enabled smartphones, tablets, desktop computers and many other MMS-capable endpoints.
Send as many as 5 attachments per message totaling up to 1.5 MB. This includes business file formats such as VCF cards and RTF documents and other popular media formats such as JPEG, MP3, PNG, TIFF, and even video files like MPEG and MP4. Inbound messages support even more media attachment formats.
Introducing self-service activation
Unlike version 1.0, activation no longer requires that you provide us with your RingCentral account ID. Instead, RC2FM 1.1 now leverages RingCentral's OAuth2 authorization flow to securely activate your subscription. Simply click on a link we provide and follow a two step process to grant our app to access your RingCentral account.
Welcome aboard AT&T Subscribers!
We're very excited that RC2FM Connector has been approved to support RingCentral Office@Hand from AT&T subscribers. Whether you're an AT&T customer or a RingCentral customer, if you are using the Ringcentral platform, you can integrate with FileMaker using our RC2FM REST API integration.
Introducing company wide call reporting
For site-licensed subscribers (5-users or more), we are introducing account level call reporting as a value-added feature. We're calling it "Call Log Pro", and it offers reporting and archiving of call activity and call recordings for every extension in your business.
If you need to combine and analyze data in your FileMaker CRM or other custom app with call reports from your RingCentral PBX, then this feature is for you.
About our product
Engineered by FileMaker developers for FileMaker developers, RC2FM Connector is a subscription web service allowing RingCentral subscribers to manage all their call related activities from within their own FileMaker custom app. RC2FM enables any FileMaker Pro, Go, and Web Direct custom app to instantly gain powerful IP business communications functionality.
About RingCentral
RingCentral® (Nasdaq: RNG) is a world-class provider of Unified Cloud Communications as a Service (UCaaS), offering businesses originating in three major markets (US, Canda, and the UK) the ability to unify their business communications deployment worldwide. RingCentral's PBX service offers best of class VoIP calling, SMS/MMS, and Digital Faxing.
What RC2FM does
One year ago, RC2FM Connector enabled long-awaited integration between FileMaker and RingCentral's core VoIP communications service (PBX). Using your RingCentral telephone extension credentials, RC2FM Connector makes the following features possible from FileMaker:
• Click/Tap to dial any phone number stored in FileMaker.
• Send outbound calls to any endpoint (your cell phone, home phone, or extension).
• Send/receive SMS/MMS messages to/from any contact phone number in near real time.
• Send/receive Faxes directly from FileMaker containers or from your device's file system.
• Download call log and message log history and store them as FileMaker records.
• Download voicemails and store them as MP3's in FileMaker containers.
• Download call recordings and store them as MP3's in FileMaker containers.
• Download sent/received Faxes and store them as PDFs in FileMaker containers.
• Set the “Read” status of unread SMS, voicemails, and fax messages.
• Trigger scripts in your FileMaker custom app on incoming calls (Pro/Advanced only).*
*Requires RingCentral Desktop app
Use cases
The possibilities for automation and integration opened up by RC2FM Connector are many. Out the box integration with FileMaker CMS and CRM applications; SMS apps, 2-factor authentication via SMS; Call Center-like functionality; data warehousing of Chat history, call recordings, voicemails and faxes. With the new MMS capabilities, integrating RingCentral Cloud communications into your FileMaker custom apps has never made more sense, or been this cool.
How it works
RC2FM Connector acts as a gateway to shuttle data between FileMaker and RingCentral. The FileMaker side of the integration is achieved by use of native FileMaker scripts that call our AWS servers using either the Insert From URL or the Set Web Viewer script steps.
Integration
RC2FM Connector offers bolt-on integration without requiring plugins, Custom Web Publishing, separate connector files, or complex configurations. This allows us to support both local as well as hosted apps on all FileMaker platforms (Pro, Go, and WebDirect) and in all versions from 13 to 16. Simply paste tables, scripts and layout objects from our demo file into your FileMaker custom app and type in the necessary RingCentral credentials.
RC2FM provides the connectivity, and FileMaker developers are free to customize their apps' UI to manage business logic and achieve the desired look and feel.
Here are some samples from our demo app,

Requirements
The only requirements for use are: internet connectivity, an active RingCentral® subscription, and an active RC2FM subscription. To purchase an RC2FM subscription activation, the only requirements for are a valid credit card and acceptance of our terms of service.
What RCFM runs on
Our web service leverages RingCentral's REST APIs to provide the back-end connectivity, and is powered by multiple load-balanced AWS ec2 instances that auto-scale to handle traffic spikes.
RC2FM Connector is deployed in the Cloud across AWS regions. Using latency based DNS, we are able to offer a very responsive and highly available class of service for most FileMaker users. Finally, all communication is encrypted by 2048-Bit SSL.
